Ogden grew and became a rough city. Crime boss Al Capone commented in the 1920s that Ogden was too wild a town for him.

Prizefighter Jack Dempsey met many takers on his way to boxing fame.

Tom and George Pappas saw the fight in 1952 that Jack Dempsey was appointed referee between Rex Layne and Ezzard Charles. They were only 13 and fifteen years old.
When Dempsey arrived in his car he recognized Toms Pappas's Dad.
His Dad introduced both boys to Dempsey before they went in to see the fight.
What an experience for a 13 year old to remember.
